Steps to Enrollment

Follow these steps to apply for admittance, take all tests and provide all required documentation.

No SAT or ACT?

Students who do not have SAT or ACT scores will:

  • Take the VPT test in Walker Building room 228.*
  • Bring with you: Valid Government issued picture I.D. and Student I.D. # (known as EMPLID which is issued at time of application).

*Virginia Placement Test (VPT) Policy

  • Test Policy for ACT OR SAT SCORES: Test scores are valid for two (2) years after the date of the test.
    Math Placement: A student who provides evidence of a satisfactory mathematics score of 520 on the SAT or a minimum score of 22 on the ACT, taken within the last two years, may be exempt from taking the VCCS mathematics placement test based on the mathematics requirements in the student’s academic plan.
    English Placement (Reading and Writing): A student who provides evidence of a minimum score of 500 on both the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT, or a minimum combined score of 21 on both the English Test and Writing Test of the ACT, within the last two years, is exempt from taking the VCCS English placement test.
  • If you meet the scores above, bring official scores or send ACT or SAT scores to:
    Travis Tisdale in Room 240, Admissions Office, in the Walker Fine Arts/Student Center.

  • Bring all test scores with you to appointment
  • Return registration card to Advising Center – Walker Building room 228.
  • Receive class schedule
  • Payment due on day of registration unless financial aid has been awarded.
  • Visit Bookstore for textbooks – Walker Building.
